Malaysian Memories, Picturing the Timeless Beauty of my Grandmother

When I was visiting my uncle recently, he brought out this huge album of old photos taken by my grandpa (who was an avid photographer) and I came across this picture of my grandma.

According to my mum, this was taken at their home – Sabai Estate (a rubber plantation estate, my grandpa was the manager there), Malaysia around 1955-56.

She was about 33 years old and already a mother of 4, but check out that figure!

I always remember her as being extremely independent and possessing a really quick wit and sharp tongue, but also fiercely protective of her children and grandchildren.

It was her 10 year death anniversary on the 19th of September and I miss her every day.
