Meet two of my favorite people – Helen and Ray Malesky, photographed around 1949.

Helen was a nurse in the Schuylkill County region. Ray and his friends lived in Centralia, PA.

A friend of Ray’s ended up being a patient of Helen’s for a few days and Ray seemed to always stop by to visit his “friend.” His friend was finally discharged but Ray kept visiting.

These two went on to become a dynamic duo, no matter what the role. They were Helen & Ray, Mother & Daddy and Nana & Papap.

We lost Papap in 2002 but my Nana, who turns 96 this year, is still loving us fiercely and gained Nana II status with the addition of 3 (soon to be 4) great grandchildren.

Thanks to that clumsy friend who required a little extended medical care, a wonderful and loving family was created.
