If you don’t know the past, you can’t understand the present

On New Year’s day, my family remembers the birthday of Ruth Appel Wittmayer.
She was delivered at 12:01 am on January 1, 1929, the first baby born in Brooklyn that year, as reported in the local newspapers.
She would have been 87 today and probably still photographing flowers, collecting, cooking for her family, decorating, loving movies and music and of course, constantly encouraging me and my brothers to be successful, caring people.
Happy birthday mom. Here she is with me around the 3rd of April 1951.
