Unearthing a Family Picture Gem that was Buried for almost 50 years

Wyoming (near Yellowstone or Cody), late 1950s.

Over 45 years later and I’m seeing this gem for the first time!

My Grandpa took his boys, my Dad and Uncle and their cousin G, out on an adventure.

I wonder what their perspective of “the West” was at this time? My grandparents, who are now 91 and 85, apologize for “not being able to go out like we used to.” But looking through shoe boxes of old photos with them has always been my favorite pastime!

Even though I covered a lot of Western territory as a child, thanks to my Dad and his RV, the city has always been my landscape.

Seeing these snapshots makes me want to go camping as an adult, so I’m holding on to that inspiration as I look at these classic family photos. ~shared by @wherebird
