What I Learned When I Documented My Grandmother's Life Story

“All personal photographs are trying to get lost. Whether they are tucked away in a photo album or existing as ones and zeroes in a computer hard drive, it takes work from their caretakers to protect personal images.” – @toddwemmr

I had the pleasure of assembling my great grandmother’s Life Story four years ago after she died at 94.

Mildred Stout was born into a German Immigrant family. They were butcher and grocery store owners in Chillicothe, MO. “I had a happy childhood, playing with siblings and neighbors. Our parents were not demonstrative, but they were supportive. We made our own fun, making up games, sewing doll clothes, putting on shows in the backyard with curtains pulled along the clotheslines.” This photograph was so beautiful and easily became my favorite!

It was taken at Lake Miloc in Minnesota. ~shared by @mandydearest
