Discovering a Treasure Trove of Family Photos While Cleaning Out the Basement
I always assumed that my grandmother had never traveled farther than the Maritimes due to her fear of flying, but while cleaning out my grandparent’s basement, I discovered a series of photos of my grandmother in Arizona, California and Illinois during the 1940s.
When I asked her about the photos, I was treated to an excellent story!
She told me about a road trip she took with a group of her (equally fashionable) nurse friends from the hospital she worked at in Quebec.
Although my grandmother now has Alzheimers, she remembers every place they visited and the names of all the people they met along the way.
I cherish these memories from my grandmother, and the photos that sparked the stories! ~shared by @horrorvictorianorum
