A Favorite Family Vacation Memory, Captured in an Old Photo
My favorite picture ever. (I’m the youngest, in the middle.) I don’t know exactly where this was taken, but I do know it was during one of the many summers our family spent traveling around the western United States in our station wagon and Aloha trailer.
Since my dad was a school teacher, he was off during the summer. I remember getting our free maps at gas stations and pulling into places like Yellowstone and Grand Canyon National Park and finding a camping spot without a reservation.
It occurred to me many years later how much work this must have been for my mom, preparing 6 meals a day in that little trailer and cleaning up after all the sand, mud, and pine needles we tracked in every day.
It was a great childhood and I think it shows here in our faces! ~shared by @toots_n_boots
