This is my father on the left, with my grandfather, uncle and grandmother. For some reason, our family would always pose for a family picture at holidays around whatever roast we were about to eat.

Maybe something to do with the humble, immigrant background and celebrating the prosperity in a large roast? They became known as “meat pictures.”

This is the earliest example I’ve seen, but the tradition continues.
