A Vintage Portrait of my Grandparents Reminds Me of My Family Legacy of Love and Courage
Meet my grandparents Vittorio and Luigina. They met at primary school in Turin, northern Italy, after migrating from poorer regions.
They became friends, then WWII broke out and my granddad left with the partisans at the young age of 17. He was gone for a few years and survived.
Once back, he went straight away to search for his love and they got married a few years later.
They spent 65 years together until my granddad’s death in 2014, at age 86.
I grew up hearing my granddad’s stories about war, friendship and loyalty. I feel like his legacy led me to be the woman I am today. ~shared by @meafteryouphoto
