Discovering a Stack of Old Photos of my Great Aunt Vinnie

In going through some old family photos, I was taken by this photo of my great aunt, Vinnie Margaret Cernosek who was born in 1924.

I’m not sure about the exact date of this photo, but it was probably taken around 1942. As the owner of a vintage clothing shop, I especially love looking at photos of my Aunt Vinnie as she always was quite the fashionista, even when I came along.

Decade after decade, her style was always on point and although she grew up in a small town, she loved city life and traveling around the world, both of which influenced her shopping habits. As she and my Uncle Edmund didn’t have any children, my relationship with them was more like that of granddaughter and grandparents, and growing up I spent a week every summer visiting them at their home in the Highland Park neighborhood of Dallas, Texas.

I could always count on at least one shopping trip to Neiman Marcus along with every other shopping mall in the DFW area. To say she loved shopping (and spoiling me, utterly and completely) feels like an understatement! ~shared by @dalenavintage
