A Stunning Vintage Photograph from my Grandparents' New York City Honeymoon

“There is only love — and stories. All else is but a shadow dream.” -Vera Nazarian

Meet my maternal grandparents John Emmet Mullaney (Pop-Pop) and Mary Theresa Faulds.

Here they are on top of Rockefeller Center in the 1940s, enjoying their honeymoon in New York City.

Pop-Pop John was stationed on the USS New York during WWII when he married his pretty neighbor, Mary. Their parents advised them to wait until the end of the war, but they married anyway on September 14, 1943 in Philadelphia.

Together they would raise 7 children: John, Carol (my late Mom), Stephen, James, Cathy, Anthony and Mary in a small Philly row-home.

They are missed. ~shared by @billyslavin
